Hype it up all week!

School Site Council  SSC - Monday at 3:00

  • Conference Room

English Language Advisory Council ELAC - Friday at 8:30

  • All Parents of students who speak both English and Spanish are encouraged to join us! Everyone is welcome. Come for coffee and conchas!  We’ll have simultaneous interpretation and Day Care too!  We’ll meet under the Mountain Shade structure to learn more about how Harding supports our students who are learning English and work on how we can best communicate with our Spanish speaking families!

  • 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade bilingual teachers will come to talk about their experience growing up in US schools as Multilingual learners!

Central Ideas and HUPS Program of Inquiry

  • HERE is our IB Program of Inquiry in English and Spanish.

  • Please take a moment to review the central ideas that your children will be working with this year.

  • Teachers have been very intentional in the design of this program so as to guide  students through each theme without repetition.

  • The following are the criteria for IB Central Ideas:

    •  is one concise sentence that is worth knowing

    •  is engaging, relevant, challenging, significant

    •  is true

    •  is not value laden

    •  is globally transferrable

    •  has a degree of complexity that is age appropriate

    •  has a degree of ambiguity (to inspire inquiry)

    •  is written in present tense

    •  does not include proper nouns

Making Connections

  • Talk about the units that your children are working on. See if you can make home connections.  Central ideas are broad and are meant to be true in many situations!

    • TK/ Kindergarten - RULES CREATE ORGANIZATION

    • 1st Grade - PEOPLE COMMUNICATE WITH LIGHT AND SOUND

    • 2nd - PEOPLE DEPEND ON EACH OTHER

    • 3rd - HUMANS USE THEIR IMAGINATION TO BE PROBLEM SOLVERS

    • 4th - ENVIRONMENTS INFLUENCE SOCIETY

    • 5th - GOVERNMENT SYSTEMS EFFECT PEOPLE IN DIFFERENT WAYS

    • 6th - STRUCTURE IMPACTS THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SITUATION

SB LIBRARY ON THE GO AND STAY AND PLAY

  • On the second Tuesday of every month, SB Library On the Go Van comes to the Mountain playground from 2:00 - 3:30.  Bring your family by and check out what they have to offer!  Tell a friend!

  • Stay and Play at HUPS Every Thursday 8:45 - 9:45 is supported by the SB Library and is for families with infants and toddlers every Thursday. They have great games, puzzles and books for the little ones - also on the Mountain Playground!  Tell a friend!
